Côte d’Ivoire’s fashion industry is gaining international recognition as designers from the country attract global celebrities while remaining committed to building the sector at home. Designers including Loza Maléombho, Elie Kuame and Ibrahim Fernandez have dressed stars such as Beyoncé, Aya Nakamura, Kelly Rowland and Solange, blending traditional Ivorian textiles with contemporary luxury fashion. Social media has played a key role in expanding their international reach, while events like Abidjan Fashion Week continue to promote African creativity to buyers and global audiences. Rather than seeking validation through traditional European fashion institutions, many designers champion African craftsmanship through locally developed standards and labels. Although their creations, often priced from several hundred to several thousand US dollars, remain beyond the reach of many Ivorians, the industry is creating jobs, strengthening cultural identity, and positioning fashion as an important form of African soft power on the global stage.
