Stellantis maintained its strong position in the Middle East and Africa automotive market in the second quarter of 2026, increasing market share and strengthening its commercial vehicle leadership despite a challenging regional environment.

Automotive group Stellantis reported continued progress across key financial and operational indicators in Q2 2026, with the Middle East & Africa region showing resilience amid weaker market conditions. While regional sales declined by 6% year over year, the company increased its market share by 20 basis points as the wider regional automotive market contracted by approximately 8%.

The company retained its No. 2 position in passenger car and light commercial vehicle sales across the region and achieved leadership in the light commercial vehicle (LCV) segment with a 24.7% market share.

The results underline Stellantis’ strategy of focusing on local market strength, commercial vehicles and production capabilities across key African and Middle Eastern markets, including Türkiye, Algeria, Morocco and Egypt.

Middle East & Africa Remains a Strategic Growth Region

Stellantis’ Q2 2026 results showed a mixed performance across global markets. The company’s overall net revenues increased 13% year over year to €43.5 billion, supported primarily by growth in North America and South America.

In the Middle East & Africa region, however, the company faced a more difficult operating environment. Despite lower sales volumes, Stellantis managed to outperform the broader market by protecting its competitive position and expanding its share.

The company highlighted that regional performance was supported by strong results in Türkiye, continued momentum in Algeria, and recent vehicle launches across Türkiye, Tunisia, Morocco and Egypt.

Türkiye remained one of Stellantis’ strongest markets, maintaining its No. 1 position across passenger car and light commercial vehicle segments. The country has become an important manufacturing and sales hub for the company, supported by a diversified portfolio of brands and models.

    Commercial Vehicles Drive Regional Performance

Commercial vehicles played a central role in Stellantis’ performance in the Middle East and Africa.

The company achieved a 24.7% market share in the LCV segment, gaining leadership across the region. Demand for commercial vehicles remains closely linked to business activity, logistics, construction and small and medium-sized enterprise growth, making the segment strategically important for African markets.

Stellantis has continued to strengthen its commercial vehicle offering through brands including Fiat Professional, Peugeot, Citroën and Opel, providing solutions for businesses requiring transportation, delivery and mobility services.

The company’s focus on commercial vehicles reflects broader changes in African economies, where urbanisation, e-commerce expansion and infrastructure development are increasing demand for reliable transport solutions.

    Algeria Supports Manufacturing Momentum

Algeria delivered a particularly strong performance for Stellantis during the quarter, achieving a record result with more than 20,000 locally produced and sold units.

The company’s local manufacturing activities in Algeria demonstrate the growing importance of domestic production capacity in Africa’s automotive sector. Local assembly helps support supply chains, create industrial capabilities and improve access to vehicles in regional markets.

The Algerian automotive industry has attracted increasing attention from global manufacturers as governments across Africa seek to expand local production, reduce import dependence and develop manufacturing ecosystems.

Electric Mobility and New Vehicle Platforms

Stellantis is also continuing its transition toward new mobility technologies, including battery electric vehicles (BEVs) and partnerships supporting electrification.

Across Europe, the company reported growth supported by a diversified portfolio of BEV, hybrid and internal combustion engine vehicles. The company also highlighted the continued expansion of Leapmotor, a Chinese electric vehicle manufacturer in which Stellantis has a strategic partnership.

Leapmotor sales continued to gain momentum in several markets, with the company also advancing local assembly initiatives and new model launches.

For Africa and Middle East markets, the transition toward electric mobility remains dependent on factors including charging infrastructure, affordability, energy availability and government policies. However, global automotive manufacturers are increasingly positioning themselves for long-term demand growth in electric and connected vehicles.

    Investment Strategy Under FaSTLAne 2030

Stellantis also reaffirmed its 2026 financial guidance as it continues implementing its FaSTLAne 2030 strategic plan.

The company expects mid-single-digit growth in net revenues for 2026 and continues investment in research, development and manufacturing capabilities. Capital expenditure and research spending are expected to remain between 6.5% and 7% of net revenues.

The strategy focuses on improving operational performance, expanding product offerings and strengthening competitiveness across global markets.

For the Middle East and Africa region, this approach includes maintaining strong positions in established markets while expanding opportunities through new vehicle launches, manufacturing investments and partnerships.

Africa’s Automotive Market Faces Both Challenges and Opportunities

The automotive sector across Africa continues to experience structural challenges, including limited financing options, infrastructure gaps and varying levels of industrial development. At the same time, demographic growth, urbanisation and rising demand for commercial mobility create significant long-term opportunities.

Stellantis’ performance in Q2 2026 demonstrates the importance of market resilience and localisation strategies. By increasing market share during a regional downturn and maintaining leadership in commercial vehicles, the company has strengthened its position in a competitive automotive landscape.

As African markets continue to develop, manufacturers with strong local partnerships, flexible production strategies and diverse vehicle portfolios are likely to play a key role in shaping the future of mobility across the continent.
