KLY Celebrates Spotify Monthly Listeners Milestone South African R&B and trap-soul star KLY is celebrating a new chapter in his musical journey after reaching 50,000 monthly listeners on Spotify.

“Thank you for listening and keep listening and sharing the vibes. L❤️VE. See you on the 4th Sept,” KLY wrote in a heartfelt message to his supporters, pairing the milestone with a stylish visual celebrating the achievement.

Born Siyabonga Mkhize and raised in Midrand after being born in KwaZulu-Natal, KLY has built a reputation for blending silky vocals, trap-soul textures and distinctly South African influences. His latest Spotify milestone reflects the continued appetite for a sound that has remained closely connected to his identity since the beginning of his career.

The visual shared by the singer places him front and centre in sunglasses and a gold chain, surrounded by Spotify player cards highlighting some of the songs that have helped shape his catalogue. Among them are “Keep Love Young,” “Snapdatshit (Remix),” “Ngiyakhumbula,” “KLYMAX reup,” “Scrrr Pull Up (Remix),” “Too Much (feat. Riky Rick),” “KLYMAX,” and “SLOW WINE.”

At the bottom of the artwork, a bold message reads, “50 000 MONTHLY LISTENERS. THANK YOU FOR LISTENING,” achieving as much about his audience as it is about the numbers.

The milestone also carries added significance given the meaning behind KLY’s artistic identity. The “Keep Love Young” philosophy has been central to his brand from projects such as the KLYMAX EP and its re-up to his 2018 album Keep Love Young.

Over the years, KLY has developed a distinctive musical lane by combining passionate vocals, African influences, vernacular ad-libs and trap-soul production. His style has drawn comparisons to international acts including Drake, PartyNextDoor and Bryson Tiller, while his collaborations have connected him with major names such as the late Riky Rick, DJ Maphorisa, Wizkid, Patoranking, Emtee and Mafikizolo.

His journey in entertainment began before he established himself as a recording artist. KLY previously worked as a dancer and performed during the 2010 FIFA World Cup, while also being part of the krump crew 300cru.

His recent music continues to highlight the emotional side of his artistry. The isiZulu-titled “Ngiyakhumbula,” meaning “I Remember,” explores themes of love, memory and personal reflection, adding another intimate layer to his catalogue.

Reaching 50,000 monthly listeners gives KLY another encouraging marker of his growth as he continues to expand his audience in South Africa and beyond. Rather than simply celebrating the figure, the singer used the moment to remind listeners that their support remains at the heart of his journey.

With a September 4 appearance linked to Hard Rock Cafe Johannesburg in Sandton on the horizon, KLY is keeping his attention firmly on what comes next.

For an artist whose name is built around keeping love young, the latest milestone offers another reason to celebrate the connection between KLY and the listeners who continue to press play.
