Ghana’s passionate football fanbase etched their name in history with a remarkable show of support in Lomé, as the Ghana Supporters Union stormed Togo in their numbers to cheer on the Black Maidens during their FIFA U-17 Women’s World Cup qualifier at the Stade de Kégué on Sunday April 12, 2026.

Traveling from across the country with over 35 buses, the supporters created a vibrant and electrifying atmosphere, turning the stadium into a sea of Ghanaian colors. The historic turnout highlighted the growing unity and strength of organized supporters’ groups in Ghana.

The show of support began even before matchday. On Friday, the MISUGHA Volta Ketu South branch, led by H.E. Bright Solomon Kumordzie, Deputy High Commissioner of Ghana to the Republic of Togo, warmly received the Black Maidens at the Aflao border as they arrived in Togo.

In a further boost for the team, Ghana’s High Commissioner to Togo, George Kofi Nfojoh, paid a visit to the players after their final training session on Saturday. Accompanied by members of MISUGHA Volta Ketu South, he encouraged the team ahead of the crucial encounter.

By Sunday, the Stade de Kégué was fully alive with energy as all major supporters’ groups under the Ghana Supporters Union came out in full force. Groups such as MISUGHA, The Heroes Supporters Group, and GASU were all present, demonstrating unity and unwavering commitment to the national cause.

Top executives of the Union, including President Alhaji Polo 4040 and PRO Abraham Nkansah, popularly known as Apiurugu Chakapaama, were also in attendance, leading the charge from the stands.

Speaking ahead of the game, MISUGHA Volta Co-Chair Madam Aku-Sika Kpene described the resurgence of the supporters’ movement, stating, “The Ghana Supporters Union was a sleeping giant, but this year, the giant is awake.” She further emphasized that 2026 is a landmark year for football, with several major tournaments lined up, including the FIFA World Cup to be hosted in the USA, Canada, and Mexico.

A key figure behind the successful mobilization was MISUGHA Volta’s Deputy PRO, Jerod Kabu, who served as the main organizer of the trip. He coordinated logistics and ensured a smooth journey for supporters, particularly from the Volta Region, leveraging Togo’s proximity to guarantee massive backing for the Black Maidens.

From the team’s arrival on Friday to the matchday atmosphere on Sunday, the efforts of the supporters, led by dedicated individuals and groups, ensured that the Black Maidens felt the full weight of Ghana’s support on foreign soil.
