There was another lesson I brought home from this trip, and it is one that left me feeling grateful.
For sixteen years, ADN has been a first mover in creating spaces where the African diaspora could come together, build relationships, share expertise, invest, and contribute to Africa’s future. We started this work at a time when the ecosystem we see emerging today largely did not exist.
Today, there are more organizations, leaders, funders, institutions, and conversations focused on the African diaspora than ever before. We are grateful to have played a part in helping create this ecosystem—and we welcome everyone who is now contributing to it. The diaspora is increasingly recognized not only for its remittances, but for its talent, knowledge, networks, investment, and partnerships.
Our commitment remains clear: to continue mobilizing the diaspora and building the connections, opportunities, and institutions that can serve generations to come. From the beginning, ADN has been intentional about building an institution that is not dependent on any one person, program, funder, or moment, but one that is built to last.
We believe this is an exciting moment to build together on what is now possible and to advance a shared vision for a more prosperous and inclusive Africa and the communities connected to it. ADN is ready to continue doing its part.
