Big Xhosa And Lwando Tease New Maskandi Banger. Big Xhosa is stepping into Maskandi territory once again, teasing a new collaboration with Lwando that he has already dubbed the “Song of the Year” ahead of its release.
The Eastern Cape-born artist shared a playful Instagram reel previewing the track while revealing production credits for Samukeliso Ngobese, engineering by Progresyv and styling by Velvet Afterparty. The teaser sees Big Xhosa and Lwando embracing larger-than-life characters as they trade humorous isiXhosa lines over a Maskandi-inspired production.
The teaser is now viral on social media, with most fans on TikTok demanding that the artists release the song. The upcoming release is another example of Big Xhosa‘s willingness to move between genres. The artist has previously made an impact with hip-hop releases, including the viral “Ninyile”, while also exploring Maskandi through earlier material.
The latest collaboration appears to continue that genre-blending approach, combining Maskandi influences with humour and contemporary references around relationships, money and digital wallets. With the track still in the making and set for a release very soon, Big Xhosa’s “Song of the Year” declaration has added another layer of anticipation around the release. Whether the song lives up to that playful billing will ultimately be determined by listeners, but the teaser has already put the collaboration on the radar.
For an artist who has consistently refused to stay within one musical lane, the upcoming release marks another colourful chapter in Big Xhosa’s genre-hopping journey.
