50 Cent claims Courtney Kemp slept with Power cast and crew

A Decade-Old Partnership Collapses Into a Public Credit War

Curtis “50 Cent” Jackson is done with Courtney Kemp. Asked in a new interview who he would never work with again, the rapper and executive producer named the creator of Power. He said success “got out of control for her.” He also argued that his name, his music and his leverage built the franchise. Kemp fired back fast. She called his budget recollections uninformed and stressed that he neither wrote nor created the series.

Then Jackson escalated. Over the weekend, he reposted her statement on Instagram with a caption suggesting she slept with cast and crew members. He offered no names, no details and no evidence. The claim remains entirely unverified. Kemp has not publicly responded to it. The clash reopens an old Hollywood fault line over who truly owns a hit.

The timing is loaded, with the Power universe expanding to Netflix and Jackson promoting his next big swing, “Street Fighter.”

50 Cent Lays Out His Case

Jackson did not mince words. Kemp, in his view, is not “wholeheartedly a bad person.” Success simply changed her. After Power took off, one line kept coming up: “I wrote it.” Jackson concedes that much. His problem is everything the line leaves out.

The story, as Jackson tells it, starts in the pitch room. Rejections piled up before anyone said yes. Meetings with then-Starz chief Chris Albrecht followed a rhythm. Pitch a scene. Play roughly 90 seconds of music. Repeat. Eight original songs came out of that process, including the theme. Each was built around a lead character’s emotional core.

In this telling, the real product was the rapper himself. “In the beginning, the sell for the show was ‘50 Cent,’” Jackson said. “That’s it.” Kemp, he claims, forgot that.

Additionally, Jackson says he told fans he would announce when the show returned. Starz then watched 40 percent of its subscribers vanish, by his account. Executives summoned him. His diagnosis was blunt. Viewers were canceling between seasons and returning only for Power. That moment, Jackson said, let him force the Power universe on the network.

Money is another sore spot. By Jackson’s math, the original series ballooned to nearly $12 million an episode. Waste was the culprit. Wardrobe was allegedly bought three times over instead of sourced through brand deals. On later projects like BMF, clothing partners helped trim those costs.

Kemp’s creative instincts took a hit, too. Jackson accused her of trying to run a whole network through one show. She also rejected the idea behind Raising Kanan, he said. Her reasoning? No story with an ending the audience already knew. Jackson called much of her logic senseless. To him, the late-1980s drug trade was a golden era. Sascha Penn later turned it into five seasons.

    From Partners to Adversaries

The partnership once looked unshakable. Kemp, born in 1977, grew up in Westport, Connecticut. She came up through prestige network television. Before Power, she worked as a writer and supervising producer on The Good Wife. That drama prized sharp dialogue and layered power struggles. Kemp carried both instincts into her next project. She conceived Power after meeting Jackson and veteran producer Mark Canton.

Starz ordered the series in 2013. Roles were clearly defined from day one. Kemp created the drama and ran the writers’ room as showrunner. Jackson served as executive producer and played Kanan Stark. He also wrote music, including the theme, and worked the promotional circuit hard. Official credits and launch announcements reflected that division. The show premiered in 2014 and ran six seasons through 2020. Its story of a New York nightclub owner living a double life as a drug kingpin became a signature hit. Spin-offs followed: Ghost, Raising Kanan and Force.

Even their first public spat looked like a performance. In 2016, Jackson attacked a full-frontal scene involving his character on social media. Kemp fired back publicly. Fans braced for a real war. It never came. A year later, Kemp said the exchange had been manufactured for publicity. She called the pair extremely close and praised Jackson as “a brilliant marketer.” At the time, the episode was widely viewed as staged. Few could have guessed the next round would be real.

X Turns on 50 Due to His IG Commentary

The replies did not split neatly into a debate about who created Power. They were dominated by people reacting to the Instagram caption.

Users who backed Kemp focused on the professional credits. They pointed out that she wrote and created the series, that official credits say so, and they asked what else 50 Cent wanted. The general tone from that group was that he was acting entitled to credit that was never his to claim.

The allegation about her sleeping with cast and crew members drew heavy pushback. People called the Instagram addition petty, messy, and out of line. A recurring theme was that he escalated from a business disagreement to a personal attack because he was losing the argument about the show. Some replies accused him of trying to slut-shame her after she got the better of him in her statement to Variety.

There was a smaller group that backed 50 Cent’s original point. They argued that his name and music were the reason anyone watched the pitch in the first place and said the show wouldn’t exist without him, and they treated his Variety comments as fair frustration about a showrunner who took too much credit.

Then there were the replies that ignored the feud entirely and just repeated the allegation. Those posts didn’t cite evidence or add context. They just ran with the claim. A subset tried to connect it to old plot decisions, like Ghost’s death, as if the alleged behavior explained the writing.

Cracks Spread Across the Power Universe

The genuine rift surfaced later. In a magazine interview this summer, Jackson said the public began treating Power as a “50 Cent show.” That perception, he argued, made life awkward for its writer and showrunner.

Omari Hardwick became another flashpoint. Jackson claimed producers once considered killing Hardwick’s character, James “Ghost” St. Patrick, early in the run. An ultimatum followed, by Jackson’s account. Kanan was sacrificed instead.

Hardwick has aired his own grievances. The actor criticized Ghost’s ending, his pay and the show’s creative direction. Jackson answered him publicly in 2024. Kemp, meanwhile, stepped away from daily spin-off duties years ago.

    Final Word

No legal action tied to the latest statements has been reported. Kemp has not addressed the Instagram post. Her last word remains the statement urging Jackson to move on.

Both camps have plenty of business elsewhere. Kemp has pursued the Netflix series Nemesis and reportedly holds an overall deal with Apple TV. Jackson is busy promoting Street Fighter.

The franchise they built keeps growing anyway. The original Power and its spin-offs are headed to Netflix under a licensing deal. A fresh wave of viewers is about to discover the show. This feud will be waiting for them.
