Big Xhosa Finally Reveals YouTube Silver Play Button Two Years After Receiving It. Big Xhosa has finally given fans a proper look at his YouTube Silver Play Button, turning a long-overlooked career milestone into an opportunity to thank those who have supported his journey.
In an Instagram post, the Eastern Cape-born artist presented the award he received after surpassing 100,000 YouTube subscribers. “Got this about 2 years ago. I never properly showed you guys, and I thought I should properly thank you for the support❤️. Makwande🙏,” he wrote.
YouTube’s Silver Creator Award recognises channels that reach 100,000 subscribers. Big Xhosa first announced receiving the award in May 2024, sharing his excitement and inviting fans to celebrate the milestone with him. He also acknowledged the work that went into building his platform. With his channel now sitting at just over 107,000 subscribers, the rapper has returned to the achievement with a renewed message of gratitude.
Big Xhosa’s rise to prominence began in 2021 when his viral diss track “Ninyile” attracted widespread attention for its references to several prominent South African rappers. The song accumulated millions of views and helped establish his name in the local music scene. He subsequently worked with artists including Big Zulu, Cassper Nyovest and Major League DJz, while also expanding his portfolio through television soundtracks and acting appearances.
Despite the attention that followed his breakthrough, Big Xhosa has continued to build his career largely on his own terms. His music spans hip-hop and other South African genres, including mbaqanga and maskandi, reflecting his willingness to explore different sounds while developing his identity as an artist.
His decision to showcase the award two years after receiving it gives the moment a different meaning. Rather than simply revisiting an old achievement, the rapper used the opportunity to recognise the fans whose support helped him reach the 100,000-subscriber milestone. The Reel drew congratulatory messages, fire emojis and words of encouragement from supporters and fellow industry figures.
For Big Xhosa, the Silver Play Button represents more than reaching a subscriber target. It marks the progress of an artist who has continued to grow his audience through independent moves, musical experimentation and a direct connection with his supporters.
