Partnership extends the SportPesa Effect from professional rugby to player development
Cape Town, October 2026 – SportPesa has partnered with Forward Foundation as Tier 1 Partner of the Forward Faster 7s and the Forward Foundation. The sponsorship covers the Forward Faster 7s tournament at the Markötter Sports Complex, Stellenbosch, on 24 and 25 October 2026, a series of SportPesa Effect coaching clinics featuring Stormers and Springbok scrumhalf Cobus Reinach, and the Forward Foundation’s Senior Performance Programme.
The partnership adds a new layer to the SportPesa Effect, SportPesa’s support for rugby at every level. That support already runs from the Stormers through the Varsity Cup and Varsity Shield to community clubs such as the SportPesa Masi Pumas, whose three teams each won their leagues this season and earn promotion to Super League D for 2027.
The squad has already been on the road. The SportPesa Forward Faster 7s team competed at the Safari Sevens in Nairobi, in a pool with Kenya’s Shujaa, Uganda and Scotland.
The SportPesa Effect coaching clinics with Cobus Reinach will follow in the Western Cape, open to players aged 18 and over, with dates to be announced.
Gareth Rosslee, Sponsorships and Partnerships, SportPesa: “The SportPesa Effect is about backing rugby at every level, not only on the big stage. Forward Foundation works where it matters most, giving players a real pathway in the game. This partnership brings the Forward Faster 7s, Cobus Reinach’s coaching clinics and the squad’s development programme together under one banner, and we are proud to stand alongside them.”
Le Roux Conradie from Forward Foundation: “Our players work hard for every opportunity they get. Having SportPesa as Tier 1 Partner gives the Forward Faster 7s and our Senior Performance Programme the support to grow. It gave our squad the chance to test themselves in Nairobi, and it gives them the chance to learn from players at the top of the game.”
The Forward Faster 7s will take place in Stellenbosch on 24-25 October 2026.
The Forward Foundation is dedicated to propelling talented athletes forward in their respective sporting disciplines. By providing opportunities for training, exposure, and growth, the foundation aims to inspire individuals to reach their full potential both on and off the field. The Forward Faster Invitational Sevens is a testament to the foundation’s commitment to promoting excellence in sports by moving South Africa Forward, Faster.
