Chelsea star increasingly likely to leave this summer | Shoot

Chelsea travel north to face Premier League champions Liverpool on Saturday.

The Blues suffered a humiliating 3-1 defeat against a Nottingham Forest side that had made eight changes in their last outing, effectively ending their hopes of qualifying for the Champions League next term.

Interim head coach Calum McFarlane will expect to see his side improve when they visit Anfield, after a dismal display against Forest at Stamford Bridge.

In the meantime, though, it is emerging that the west London outfit may be forced to sell one of their most important players this summer.

As per CaughtOffside, Chelsea are under increasing pressure to sell players this summer, with midfielder Enzo Fernandez one of those most likely to depart.

The Argentine cost the Blues more than £106 million when he joined from Benfica back in 2023, making him the most expensive player in Premier League history at the time.

After a slow start to his career in London, the 25-year-old has established himself as one of the best in the league in his position over the past couple of seasons.

In total he has made 165 appearances across all competitions, scoring 29 goals and providing the same number of assists.

The report claims, though, the the Argentina international is of significant interest to Spanish giants Real Madrid.

Last month, Fernandez was suspended by then-head coach Liam Rosenior for comments made which expressed a desire to one day play for Los Blancos.

Fernandez is under contract in SW6 until the end of the 2031/32 campaign, but the report suggests that the Premier League side may need to sell players during the upcoming summer transfer window.

Manchester City and Paris Saint-Germain are also said to be interested in the midfielder, with both the player and his current club increasingly feeling that a move may be best for both parties.
